For over 30 years Menphys has asked you to take part in the Menphys Mile and now we are asking you to go a little further for children and young people with disabilities.

In fact, we want you to travel the world! But we are not asking you to do it alone.

Grab a friend, your family or business colleagues and take on the Miles For Menphys challenge. You can walk, run, swim, cycle or roll and as you clock up those miles, you can record them on our dedicated website, challenge others, challenge yourself, help Menphys travel the world, raise awareness of our work with young people with disabilities and raise vital funds.

Sign up today, take on the challenge, get moving and get in those Miles For Menphys.

Text MILES to 70460 to give a one-off donation of £5 to Menphys. For every £40 raised, Menphys can provide a family with a disabled young person ‘At Home Support’.

George Latham, the pedalling pensioner from Wigston cycled the 4,000 miles to Athens, Greece and back aged 65, his hope was to raise £4,000 for Menphys.

The journey averaged 65 miles per day, some days George travelled more than 100 miles a day to keep to his schedule of getting home before his 66th birthday on July 15th.

During his trip, George made two official stop-offs, at Krefeld in Germany and Maromme, France both twin towns of Oadby & Wigston at the time of his journey. George overcame all sorts of problems with his bike on his way but his itinerary included cycling through some of Europe’s most beautiful and picturesque cities including Munich, Vienna, Naples, Paris, and Rome.

To cut costs, he camped in a one-man tent and had one main meal per day augmented by roadside snacks of bread and cheese snacks.

George completed his mammoth adventure raising over £5,000 for Menphys.

For over 50 years Menphys has provided a range of specialist services to support children, young adults and their families. We believe in a future of equal choices and opportunities for young people with disabilities
